Katie was born and raised in Fresno, CA. She graduated from California State University, Fresno in 2006 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has worked for University Medical Center Fresno, then Community Regional Medical Center Fresno since graduation in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit and earned her Critical Care Registered Nurse Certification in 2010. She also has experience working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital. She moved to Sacramento in 2013 to pursue her Master’s Degree and graduated from UC Davis in 2015 with her Master of Science in Nursing Healthcare and Leadership with a Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies. Her degree from UC Davis allowed her to be dual certified as a Nurse Practitioner and a Physician Assistant. Katie is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of California and nationally certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as well as being licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of California and nationally certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She has advanced practice experience working in Neurosurgery at Community Regional Medical Center.
Katie has worked her way up at CVC over the years from medical records, to medical assistant, to Registered Nurse for Dr. Hanks, and now as Dr. Hanks’ personal Nurse Practitioner. She is excited to finally join the CVC family full time. She and her father are delighted to be working side-by-side and bring to fruition the true meaning of a family business.
